Death of James Farrell

Death of the very well known highly popular James Farrell Military Row at his residence at the age of 81. Tailor by trade he was a well known figure in Cavan town having his dress making shop adjacent to the Farham Hotel behind Tom McConville’s Hair Salon. He was a native of Caledon county Tyrone. He was an active member of many of the organisations in the town both church and state and was a prominent member of Cavan Slashers a founding member of Cavan CYMS as well as serving in Saint Vincent De Paul and the Old Confraternity in the Cathedral. He was in business at the Farham Hotel from 1919-1960 when he retired. He was a master tailor and most amusing and respected resident who was known and respected over a very wide area. He is survived by his wife Rose nee Donoghue College Street two sons Paddy Solicitor in Naas  Desmond Dublin three daughters Mrs S O Brien Coventry England Mrs G McGlone Glasgow and Mrs J Farrelly Dublin. There was a very large and representative attendance at the removal and funeral from Saint Patrick and Saint Phelim’s Cathedral Cavan to Saint Brigid’s Cemetery in Killygarry. Father Des O Dowd officiated.
