Father Des O Dowd is pictured presenting a cheque the proceeds of a dance in the Town Hall organised by Cavan CYMS to Father Patrick J McManus for the purpose of sending two invalids to Lourdes on the forthcoming Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes. Ian Corrigan and his Band played free of charge while local man Oliver Malone donated the minerals. Death of Jerome Casey

Death of Jerome Casey at his residence 13 Greenmount Terrace Terenure Dublin 6 former Customs and Excise Officer in Cavan at the age of 65. He was forty years in the service and came to Cavan from Donegal in 1938. Just eight years ago he was transferred to Dublin. He was a native of Skibereen county Cork and was a keen angler huntsman and was a founder member of Cavan Dog and Gun Club. He was a long time member of the committee of Cavan CYMS and was a keen agile solo player being a member of the famous Cavan Club including Frank Fitzpatrick Andy Cafferty Tommy Connolly etc. Jerome is survived by his wife Mai three sons Andrew Jerome and Father Peter Casey Saint Patrick’s College and his one daughter Mary a well known model in Dublin brothers Michael Skibereen Con Dublin and Sean Cork and one sister Eileen in Dublin. Many people travelled from Cavan for the funeral Mass and burial from Saint Joseph’s Terenure to Dean’s Grange cemetery.

Over 750 young and old attend the CYMS dance to send two invalid patients to Lourdes on this year’s first Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage organised by John McGinnity and Company Bridge Street Cavan. Music was by the Blend who played free of charge while Oliver Malone donated the minerals.
